About me

I am Jane Cameron, an experienced private music teacher based in Woking, Surrey. I have been teaching the Cello since 1995. I studied the cello at Trinity College of Music, London (now Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance), with Joely Koos and Naomi Butterworth, and later privately with Alison Moncrieff-Kelly. I have experience of both the Suzuki and Colourstrings methods, and use aspects of these in my teaching. I have also studied Kodaly musicianship with David Vinden and Dalcroze Eurythmics with Karin Greenhead. I am a current member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians.

I teach the Cello privately in Woking. I also teach Cello and Piano at St Hilary's School in Godalming.

I offer tuition to students of all ages and abilities.
My teaching style
I am a fun and inspirational teacher. I encourage my pupils to compose, attend and take part in concerts, and listen to recordings to broaden their musical outlook. We also do regular sight reading and aural test practice, and work on music theory in tandem with technique so that all aspects of musicianship are covered.

I organise and run an informal concert each term for my students, so my pupils gain performance experience in a fun and supportive environment. I run a separate concert for my adult students. (These are temporarily on hold, sorry!)
